Ola to hire 3000 non-software engineers

Ola Electric is cutting 200 jobs, mostly in software development positions, as part of a reorganization and plans to hire around 3,000 to focus on non-software development areas.
The company, which sells electric scooters, said it has increased its focus on non-software engineering domains "with a clear focus on building technology and R&D capabilities in the following areas: vehicles, cells, batteries, manufacturing and automation, autonomous engineering- flows and others”.
With plans for to launch its first electric car in 2024, Ola Electric is focused on being a vertically integrated mobility company. "Ola builds on shared capabilities and synergies across functions as it strengthens its game in 2W (two-wheelers), 4W (four-wheelers), cellular R&D and manufacturing," the company said in a statement. He further said, "In light of these efforts, the company is centralizing operations and undertaking a reorganization to minimize redundancies and build a strong 98 7-page structure that strengthens relevant roles and functions."
The measure will affect 10% of the workforce of around 2,000 engineers. On the other hand, Ola Electric said it "currently has around 2,000 engineers and intends to expand its engineering talent pool to 5,000 over the next 18 months.
" On August 15, the company had announced plans, with plans entering the segment of to get its first model on the market by 2024. The company, which has struggled to ship its electric scooters after announcing its entry into the segment last year, has set an ambitious goal of selling 10,000 electric cars by 2026. -2027.
In August of that year, Ola Electric sold 3,351 units of electric two-wheelers, compared to 3,426 units in July of this year, according to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).
