Maharashtra government to pay college expenses for Covid orphans

Maharashtra Minister Chandrakant Patil said Monday that the state government will bear the education expenses of college students who have lost their parents due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was announced by the Minister of State for Higher and Technical Education at the state level. Gathering while answering a question from Congress leader Shirish Chaudhary.

“Up to 931 undergraduates and 228 postgraduates from various state universities have lost their parents to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The government will pay all of their course fees, Patil said. The minister  said  the decision will cost the treasury more than Rs 2 crore per year and  will not require the state government to make a similar decision every year.
