10 Lakh Government Jobs to be filled in next 1.5 years

"The prime minister has reviewed the status of human resources in all departments and ministries and ordered the government to hire 10,000 people in mission mode over the next 1.5 years," the prime minister's office tweeted on Monday.

The Ministry of Railways has around 2.3 million vacancies, while there are nearly 15,000 sanctioned railway jobs.PM Modi has ordered 10 lakh people to be given central government jobs over the next 18 months.

This announcement comes at a time when the opposition is raising the issue of unemployment in the country. "PM reviewed the status of human resources in all departments and ministries in

Earlier this year, the government told parliament that as of March 1, 2020, there were a whopping 8.72,000 vacancies in central government ministries. The central government has imposed more than 40,000 sanctions, but fewer than 32,000 staff are on the ground.

The government has been trying to fill these positions for years, but without much success.

WHERE ARE THE JOBS?

Most vacancies are in the major ministries and departments, including Posts, Defense (civil), Railways and Finance. According to News18, about 2.3,000 positions are vacant in the Ministry of Railways, out of almost 15,000 sanctioned positions in the rail sector.

In the (civil) defense department there are almost 2.5 lakh free against a sanctioned force employed at nearly 6.33 lakh. There are around 90,000 vacancies in the postal department with a sanctioned total of 2.67 lakh while there are almost 74,000 vacancies in the finance department with a sanctioned total of 1.78 lakh employees.
