Companies related to highway project will provide internship to civil engineering students, 20% will also get jobs

BTech and MTech students of civil engineering colleges will not have to worry about internships in future. Companies related to the construction of National Highway project will give internship to such students in their project.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued an order in this regard. Companies will have to do internships for students from the next financial year. Not only this, jobs will also have to be given in 20 percent of the companies that perform better.

According to the order of the Ministry of Road Transport, companies related to highway construction and highway consultant will have to do internship for BTech and MTech students of Civil Engineering College.

Companies will initially conduct internship to 100-100 students. Gradually this number will increase. After this, companies will give jobs to 20 percent of the better performing students. Apart from government, private engineering colleges will also be included in this.

This step of the ministry will have double benefits. First, students will not have to wander here and there for internship. Some of these students will also get jobs while interning.

Second, companies associated with the National Highway Project will get engineers as internships, so that highway projects can be completed more quickly.

There are about 5800 engineering colleges in the country. Of these, 73 percent are private, 23 percent government, the rest are public private engineering colleges.

About five lakh students leave for civil engineering every year. For all these students, this step of the ministry will bring relief.
