The Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE) is a test that assesses a student's comprehensive proficiency in a wide range of  undergraduate science and engineering  disciplines in preparation for admission to a master's program and recruitment by some government agencies such as

BHEL, GAIL, HAL, IOCL. NTPC, NPCIL, ONGC and PGCI.GATE are jointly organized every year by  Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) including Indian Institute of Technology  Kharagpur, Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Chennai , Roorkee and Bengaluru on behalf of the National Coordinating Board (NCB) – GATE,

 Department of Higher Education and Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. It is an entrance test that entitles admission to postgraduate (PG) courses (M., M. Tech, PhD).in IISc and IIT.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur is the organizing institute for GATE 2022. Which universities use GATE scores? All IIT Universities, NIT Universities, ISM Dhanbad, Anna University, Jadavpur University, ICT (Institute of Chemical Technology), VIT Vellore Institute of Technology, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology and Birla.

The Institute of Technology and Science in Rajasthan are some of the universities that accept GATE scores during their admissions process. The GATE score is valid for three years after the results are announced.

Is it online or offline?

GATE 2022 took place in February 2022 and consisted of 29 topics.The exam was fully computerized (CBT)

Where are the centers?

In India, exam cities are divided into eight zones for administrative reasons. A GATE zone office at the managing institute oversees all GATE-related activities in each of the eight zones (IIT or IISc).

Institute (OI) is one of the managing institutions and  is responsible for the overall process and coordination between the managing institutes of the GATE exam. A candidate can select three locations from the list of exam cities, all of which must be in the same zone.

Zone1 has 30 cities centered around IISc Bangalore.Some of these centers are located in Bengaluru South (KA), Hyderabad (TS) and Mysore (KA).

Zone2 has 30 cities  around the IIT Bombay. Some of these centers are Ahmedabad (GJ), Amravati (MH), Aurangabad (MH), Gandhinagar (GJ), Nagpur (MH), Nashik (MH), Pune (MH), Rajkot (GJ) and Surat (GJ).

Zone3 has 19 cities surrounding the IIT Delhi. Some of these centers are Ajmer (RJ), Bikaner (RJ), Gurugram (HR), Indore (MP), Jaipur (RJ), JammuSamba (JK), New Delhi (DL) and Ujjain (MP).

Zone4 has 21 cities  around the IIT Guwahati. Some of these centers are Agartala (TR), Aizawl (MZ),Gangtok (SK), Guwahati (AS), Imphal (MN), Itanagar (AR), Patna (BR) and Shillong (ML).

Zone5 has 14 cities surrounding IIT Kanpur. Some of these centers are located in Agra (UP). , Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Kanpur (UP), Lucknow (UP) and Varanasi (UP).

Zone6 has 26 cities surrounding IIT Kharagpur.Some of these centers are located in Bhubaneswar (OD), Kolkata (WB), Ranchi (JH), Vijayawada (AP) and Visakhapatnam (AP).

Zone7 has 40 cities  around IIT Madras. Some of these hubs are Chennai South (TN), Coimbatore (TN), Kottayam (KL), Madurai (TN), Puducherry (PY) and Thiruvananthapuram (KL).

Zone8 has 22 cities  around the IIT Roorkee including Ambala (HR), Amritsar (PB),Bathinda (PB), Dehradun (UK), Ludhiana (PB), NOIDA (UP) and Panipat (HR). GATE Format The GATE exam consists of two main sections, General Aptitude (GA) and Candidate Selected Subject.

The total duration of the GATE exam is 3 hours.GA has 10 questions and 55 questions are from the chosen topic, making a total of 65 questions. Some questions in the online exams will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with only one correct answer out of four.

Multiple Choice Question (MSQ) types in whichor more than one  of four answers is/are correct, or of the numeric answer (NAT) type, where the applicant has to enter the answer via a virtual keyboard.

A candidate may take one or both of the GATE exams. However, your combination of two documents must be selected from a predefined list.Even if you take two exams, you only have to  fill out one registration form.

GATE Exam Fee

Candidates and SC/ST/PwD* category candidates (per test) are required to pay Rs 750 to register for the GATE exam in the regular period, while they are required to pay Rs 1,250 if the fee is presented during the extended period will.

All other candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs 1500 to register for the GATE exam in the regular period.while they have to pay Rs 2000 if the fee is filed during the extended period.

The GATE application fee was paid online using credit/debit cards, a wallet or online banking. Before starting the application process, the candidate must confirm that he or she meets the requirements for the GATE 2022 educational qualification.

Candidates who are currently in their third year or greater of any degree or who have completed a state-recognized degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce or the arts are eligible to take the 2022 GATE Exam and has no age limit.

Candidates from countries other than India must have completed a four-year engineering degree or be in their final year. Applicants are encouraged to visit the GATE Eligibility Criteria website for detailed information on the documents required to prove eligibility.

To be eligible for the scholarship, a candidate must first be accepted into a program at one of thestate-supported institutes according to a method that differs from institute to institute.

Applicants may inquire about admissions procedures and the availability of a scholarship or residency with the Department of Education of the admitting institution.

For example, the AICTE PG grant is designed to support GATE/GPATcertified students admitted to ME/MTech/MArch and MPharm programs at AICTE-accredited universities.

The main objective of the scholarship is to assist India in developing its technical education system. A monthly stipend of INR 12,400 will be paid to selected scholarship recipients.
