Maharashtra's Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant reiterated on Tuesday  that  the decision to conduct offline exams for the state's 13 universities will not be reversed.

He said  students at those universities are getting an extra 15 minutes an hour to write their papers because they haven't turned up for offline exams in the last two years. He also announced  there would be a gap of at least two days between jobs.

"Universities will even provide students   with a questionnaire to prepare for  exams," he said. Samant spoke to the media  after attending the 27th Convocation Ceremony of  Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) here.

“The decision to hold exams offline  was recently taken unanimously  by the rectors of the 13 universities. Our department convened the meeting to get their opinion on the matter," he said. His statement is related to the demand from some students for online exams.

“Students who are successful on offline exams will be in advantageous positions during the placement process. Industry will give weight to candidates who are successful in such exams," he said.

Regarding the appointment of vice-chancellors, Samant said that the state government  decided that  the chancellor's rights were retained but certain changes were made to the selection of VCs: "The government insists on having equal board opportunities at every university in the world." state.

In addition, the government has introduced some educational criteria for the admission of members to the Senate or the Executive Board.

The bill was approved and presented to the governor for approval . Once approved, the VC appointment process  will continue to begin,” he said.
