The University Grants Commission (UGC) has warned of penalties for universities that do not adhere to existing guidelines for awarding undergraduate degrees.
Successful completion of a program is a student's untouchable privilege. According to the UGC (Granting of Degrees and Other Awards by Universities) Regulations, 2008, Regulation 4.4 requires:Colleges have also been asked to issue provisional degrees to students along with graduation certificates.
"The Commission is required by Regulation 9 of the UGC Redress of Complaints (UGC) Regulations 2012 to take sanctions against universities that fail to comply with the UGC regulations on awarding degrees," reads the notice.
