AWS Community Builders program for students | Benefits and perks

Interested AWS builders should apply to the program to build relationships with AWS product teams, AWS Heroes, and the AWS community.

Throughout the program, AWS subject matter experts will provide informative webinars, share insights — including information about the latest services — as well as best practices for creating technical content, increasing reach, and sharing AWS knowledge across online and in-person communities. The program will accept a limited number of members per year. All AWS builders are welcome and encouraged to apply.

Any individual who is 18 or older and passionate about building on AWS can apply to join the AWS Community Builders program. The application process is open to AWS technical builders worldwide, and all interested individuals are welcome and encouraged to apply. The AWS Community Builders program seeks applicants from all regions, demographics, and underrepresented communities.

Applications will be reviewed twice a year, and applicants who are accepted into the program will be invited on a twice-yearly basis. While there is no single specific criterion for being accepted into the program, emphasis is placed on evidence and accuracy of technical content that helps other AWS-focused builders, such as blog posts, videos, open source contributions, and presentations. Online knowledge sharing, such as posts to AWS re:Post, Stack Overflow, Reddit, etc., is also considered. Links must be viewable to the general public to be valid

Program members are encouraged to join virtual calls, participate in learning opportunities, continue to share or produce educational and technical content, actively engage with and help build the AWS community, and demonstrate continued interest in learning more about AWS.

The AWS Community Builders program is an ongoing initiative built in one year intervals for program members. Many members will feel like the skills they’ve gained after one year are sufficient and exit, while others may easily re-apply to remain in the program for another year. Part of the re-application process is showing examples of content or contributions that helps other AWS builders.

The AWS Community Builders program accepts applications, while the AWS Heroes program is an invitation-only recognition program. The Community Builders program focuses on offering education and community engagement opportunities to a larger number of interested and active AWS builders, whereas the Heroes program has fewer members. Being a part of the Community Builders program does not exclude you from future nomination to the Heroes program.

• Members of the program will receive:

  • Access to AWS product teams and information about new services and features via weekly webinars
  • Learning from AWS subject matter experts on a variety of non-technical topics, including content creation and support for submitting CFPs and securing speaking engagements
  • AWS Promotional Credits and other helpful resources to support content creation and community-based work
  • Some surprises!

Currently, the program covers the following technology areas: Containers, Data (databases, analytics, and BI), Developer Tools, Front-End Web and Mobile, Game Tech, Graviton/Arm Development, Cloud Ops, Machine Learning, Network Content & Delivery, Security & Identity, Serverless, and Storage.
