Subject: Diploma Students in B. Tech (Lateral Entry), Admission- Regarding
It has come to the knowledge of AICTE that some of the AICTE institutions are refusing Diploma qualified students for lateral entry admission under Engineering and Technology courses with restricted discipline only. Whereas, as per the AICTE Approval Process Handbook for A/Y 2O2O-21 clause 1.3, there is no such restriction in the admission of Diploma students to Under Graduate Engineering & Technology courses under lateral entry.
Diploma Students(Direct Second year students) academic year 2020-21 into Engineering and Technology (UC Courses) under Lateral Entry is
Program : trngineering and 1'echnology (Lateral Entry to Second year)
Duration:3 years
Eligibility :
a. Passed Diploma examination with at least candidates belonging to reserved category) Technology. . 45%o marks (40% marks in case o, in ANY branch of Engineering ancl
b. Passed B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC, with at least 457o marks (40% rnarks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and passed l0+2 examination with Mathematics as a subject.
c. Provided that the .students belonging to B.Sc. Stream, shall clear the subjects Engineering Graphics/ Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mechanics of the First Year Engineering Programme along with the Second year sub.jects.
d. Provided that the students belonging to B.Sc. Stream shall be considered only after filling the supernumerary seats in this category with students belonging to the Diploma stream.
e. Passed D. Voc. Stream in the same or allied sector.
f. the above cases, suitable bridge ,courses, if required such as in Mathematics or basic Engineering foundation courses may be suitably designed and implemented.
"Passed Diplorna (in Engineering and'lcchnology) exar-nination with at least 45%o rnarks (40% nrarks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) sub.lect to vacancies in the First Year, in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted". Therefore, all the State Government/ Universities are requested to inforrrr all the institutions falling under their jurisdiction to adhere to the condition mentioned above for the admission of diploma qualified students in Under Graduate courses as per the Approval Process Handbook Clause 1.3 for lateral entry admission.
