Maharashtra government announces special vaccination drive for college students

MUMBAI: government has announced a week
long special vaccination drive for eligible students in their
college campuses.
The drive--Mission Yuva Swasth Abhiyaan-- which has been
jointly organised by the along with
higher and technical education department will be
conducted between October 25-November 2.
Health minister said that there are roughly 5000
colleges under the higher and technical education
department which include polytechnic, ITI's and other
affiliated institutions as well and there are nearly 40 lakh 18+
students enrolled in these colleges.
"We have asked all principals to provide a list of students
who are yet to be vaccinated. The department is expected to
compile the list and tell the health department how many
doses will be required for the drive," said Tope

This is the second such special drive organised by the state.
The state has organised a with the aim of vaccinating 15 lakh people everyday before ,
but the drive did not meet with much response and only 50
per cent of its target was achieved.
Apart from helping with the data, the colleges will also have
to provide three rooms to conduct the vaccination drive and
create awareness among students about the importance of
vaccination.
Tope said the health department will provide all colleges
with medical equipment, ambulance, medical staff and
vaccines.
“After the drive is over, we will also facilitate three colleges
who perform the best,” said Tope.
Tope said that Maharashtra has covered 70 per cent of its
eligible population with the first dose and by covering a
large number of the student population they will be
increasing their coverage and also ensuring that the most
mobile age group has been vaccinate
