NSM Nodal Centre at IIT GOA, are organizing a 2 days course on MPI in action. This is planned from 2-3 October 2021, and is open to everyone. The course will be held online. Session link will be shared with registered participants.This short course introduces the application of MPI to parallelise simple CFD solvers. At the end of the course, with the help of hands-on sessions, the participants will be able to write a parallel solver to deal with 2D unsteady heat conduction problems in Cartesian grids.

Course Topics

  1. Review of finite difference methods and MPI concepts
  2. Parallelization of 1D unsteady heat conduction equation (hands-on)
  3. Discretization of 2D heat conduction equation using finite difference/volume methods
  4. Parallelization of 2D unsteady heat conduction equation (hands-on)

Prerequisites

Students should have basic understanding of finite difference or finite volume methods, and fundamental MPI concepts. Students should have a computer with Linux and MPI installed detailed instructions will be given later.

  1. If you are a student, please keep a scanned copy of your ID card ready.
  2. If an ID card is not available, a letter from your department in the college/university/institute or latest fee receipt of the college/university/institute should be used. The fee receipt should mention your name and that of your college/university/institute.
  3. Please pay the course registration fee as applicable, as per details provided below.
  4. You need to have a valid email ID to register for the course.
  5. You will receive an email confirmation upon submission of your registration.
  6. You agree with the Terms & Conditions upon successful registration for the course.

 

Course Fee: Free but registration mandatory.

Certificate of Participation: will be provided to those who attend ALL the sessions.

  1. PhD (any stream of Science or Engineering)
  2. Masters (any stream of Science or Engineering)
  3. 3rd and 4th year UG Students (any stream of Science or Engineering)
