This online workshop is focused on remote sensing of the Moon through various scientific satellite missions and discussions of their important findings. The Moon serves as a unique laboratory for understanding the evolution of terrestrial planets. The past few decades of remote sensing aided by in-situ exploration of the lunar surface followed by recent advances in the data analysis techniques have contributed significantly to our current understanding of the physical and chemical processes occurring over the planetary surfaces. Wealth of data acquired by various lunar missions has resulted in discoveries, provided huge opportunities to study the Moon by the examination of new ideas and testing data analysis algorithms

This online workshop will cover the following topics: •Overview of Lunar Remote Sensing •Reflectance spectroscopy and detection of endogenic water on the Moon: Examples from recent lunar Missions. •Lunar South Pole Aitken basin - understanding mantle geochemistry •Recent advances in radar exploration of the Moon. •.Chandrayaan-2 Imaging Infrared spectrometer (IIRS): Some initial results for mineral analysis. • Mg-Spinel Mineralogy on the Moon IIRS Outreach Programme Workshop Content and Outline Who can attend the workshop One Day Online Workshop on “Lunar remote Sensing and its Applications” August 11, 2021 • Individuals can attend the course live via any web browser through the eclass portal of IIRS Dehradun i.e. https://eclass.iirs.gov.in • The participants can also attend the live workshop via the YouTube channel of IIRS i.e., https://www.youtube.com/user/edusat2004 • The content of the workshop will be available offline after 24 hours in the eclass portal.
