Important update from NPTEL for upcoming examination June July 2021 , check more detailes

Dear learner,

Hope you are staying safe and healthy in these difficult times.

This is an update regarding the exams for the NPTEL courses run in Jan-Apr 2021. We had recently announced that we are looking into conducting these exams on July 10/11. However, due to the continued pandemic situation, NPTEL exams stand postponed until further notice.

A summary of the status of and steps with respect to the NPTEL exams is as follows:

Mar 2021 exams - We have already conducted these exams and e-certificates have been issued.

Apr 2021 exams

For final year students looking to graduate with the degree in 2021 using NPTEL courses for credit transfer, we had decided on the following: A Modified Pass Certificate, with text ‘Covid Impacted’,  will be provisionally issued to final year students graduating in 2021 alone, based on the Assignment Scores you have obtained in your NPTEL courses. THIS MODIFIED CERTIFICATE IS APPLICABLE ONLY TO STUDENTS GRADUATING IN 2021. This certificate will not be counted towards the Domain or any other NPTEL Star categories we have.
A generic letter from our side - We will put up a letter on NPTEL portal in which we will explain the Modified Pass certificate and request the University/College authorities to accept and process further towards credit transfer. We request the College authorities to accept this as per their requirement.  bit.ly/3zPcRet

Exams for Non-final year students

For those not requiring NPTEL credits to graduate, NPTEL is looking into various possibilities of conducting the final exams in the coming months. The mode of conducting the exams, date of the exams, etc. will be announced as the situation evolves.

Update on Exams for January - April 2021 SWAYAM-NPTEL courses Prof. Andrew Thangaraj Dept. of Electrical Engg, The Jan-April 2021 NPTEL certification exams which had been previously scheduled on April 24/25 2021 UIT Madras

could not be conducted on these dates due to the current pandemic situation. We are still waiting for

approvals from the authorities to go ahead with organizing the exams in the coming weeks. Prof. Prathap Haridoss Dept. of Metallurgical and I Since many learners have taken these courses for credit transfer, we have decided the following: Materials Engs,

1. Mar 2021 exams - We have already conducted these exams and e-certificates have been issued. UIT Madras

2. Apr 2021 exams - Modified Pass certificate for those graduating in 2021: A one-time Modified Pass

Certificate, with text 'Covid Impacted will be provisionally issued to final year students graduating Prof. Niket Kaisare

in 2021 alone, based on the Assignment Scores they have obtained in their NPTEL courses. Dept. of Chemical Engg, IIT Madras

We will calculate the Average Assignment score as follows: Average of the best 3/6/8 assignments for

courses of duration 4/8/12 weeks (or as announced apriori in the course in case of changes) If this score >= 40/100 (which is also one condition for certificate eligibility), we will issue the Modified Pass certificate. If this score <40/100, the certificate will not be issued.

Note:

a. THIS MODIFIED CERTIFICATE IS APPLICABLE ONLY TO STUDENTS GRADUATING IN 2021.

This certificate will not be counted towards the Domain certification or any other initiative that

NPTEL has, based on the certification obtained by the student. C. Modified Pass Certificate will be given only for the April 2021 exams; not for the March 2021 exams.

é

The final year students who have applied and obtained the Modified Certificates may choose to write exams later on when they are conducted and obtain the regular NPTEL certificate.

We request all Institutes/Universities to kindly accept the above documents for transferring credit to the

final year students alone as a special case for the Covid-curtailed Jan-Apr 2021 semester.

In case any institute feels the above is not sufficient and wishes to conduct exams for these courses on their own, the following procedure is suggested: Every course has weekly online assignments - along with solutions. Students had submitted these online assignments in an unproctored manner based on Honor code. Faculty from the local institute/University can choose a subset of the questions and modify as required to create the question paper, which they can administer to their students as the final exam locally. They can then use the online assignment marks (given in the Local Chapter login) and the local final exam marks suitably to issue credits.

3. Scheduling the April 2021 exams: We had recently announced that we are looking into conducting the exams originally scheduled for 24/25 April 2021, on July 10/11. But, due to the continued pandemic situation, these NPTEL exams stand postponed until further notice. The mode of conducting the exams, date of the exams, etc will be announced as the situation evolves. We request the universities using NPTEL courses for credit transfer for non-final year students to wait for the conduct of exams and release of results thereafter.

Students, colleges and universities may write to supp[email protected]c.in for any further queries.
