GATE 2021 : is it going to postponed , clashing with university exams ,  Students Queries amid Demand to Postpone Exam 2021 , check detailes

As there have been requests from students to postpone GATE 2021, IIT Bombay responded to students’ queries on the official Twitter handle of GATE 2021.

Gate2021  is scheduled to be conducted on February 06, 07, 13 & 14. There have been several requests from students to postponed gate 2021 . Some students urged IIT Bombay to give extra time for preparation due to the academic disturbance caused by Covid-19, while some students pointed that gate 2021 exam dates  are clashing with university exams. Here’s what IIT Bombay responded on its official Twitter handle.

IIT Bombay’s Response on Requests to Postpone GATE 2021

One student asked whether an extra month will be given for exam preparation due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Responding to the students’ query, IIT Bombay indicated that GATE is a relative performance-based exam, and how one utilizes the time for  preparations  matters. Also, GATE can be given any number of times, as there is no upper age limit for the same.

One student asked whether there is an age limit for Mtech admission in IIT or NIT through GATE. For this, IIT Bombay responded that there is no age limit for admission.

One student pointed out that GATE 2021 exam date is clashing with university exams. For this, IIT Bombay responded that the dates of GATE 2021 were announced officially in July 2020, and a circular has been sent to all the universities. Therefore, GATE 2021 can’t be postponed. Also, the GATE exam is not only for M.Tech aspirants but also PSU aspirants.

.For 2021 batch, Final year exams of all colleges in India are postponed to July/August, which were earlier held in April/May. At

that time, appearing for GATE in Feb was totally fine, but this year we will have to wait for any further processes, like PSU interviews and MTech admissions until we are done with our college exams. So, time between GATE result (in March) and our graduation (in August/September) is totally a WASTAGE, If GATE is postponed to April or May, we can utilize 2-3 months more for studies and preparations for GATE.

2. For 2020 batch, UGC postponed the exams till September/October, and they've got very less time for GATE preparation. Also, MTech admissions for 2020 batch concluded in January itself. Some students haven't had prepared hoping they'll get admission but they did not. If this admission process was concluded in June 2020 itself. They would've had sufficient time to decide if they require to study and how much they require to study for GATE 2021 Now they'll not even secure place in good college in 2021 as well. For such students 2 consecutive years will be WASTED.

3. Most of the hostellers left their notes at hostels during the lockdown period and had to rely on scattered online material for preparation, which definitely was unproductive. And with the addition of new M5Q pattern, we need more time to read concepts thoroughly from the standard books.

4. Even though 3rd year was allowed to appear for GATE this year, there is not much increase in the number of registered candidates (8.6 lakh registrations for GATE 2020, and 8.8 lakh registrations in GATE 2021), considering the fact that one more subject was also added. At least half of the third year students could have registered and there should have been almost 1.5x registrations than the last year, who would want to let this opportunity go? But this didn't happen this clearly shows that most of the GATE aspirants must have avoided GATE. mainly because of hampered studies, mostly due to CoVid-19

5. As of now, the vaccination is going to start all over the country, and this might take almost 2-3 months, considering the above mentioned reasons, it would be good if GATE is postponed until the vaccinations are done, and if possible, please open registration portal again and see how many more aspirants register for GATE, since vaccine has been discovered and the situation is expected to improve post-vaccination, most of the students who chose not to appear for GATE will consider registering for it.

So Gate exam will not be postpone &  be conducted in scheduled timetable
