Online Course can earn upto 40% credits : UGC

The University Grants Commission of India is a statutory body set up by the Government of India in accordance to the UGC Act 1956 under Ministry of Education, and is charged with coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of higher education.

In covid pandemic situation , education policies are shifted to totally online based and due to which education is changed a lot. Many universities are promoting students for online courses offered by SWAYAM portal or any other platform. 

Recently University Grants Commission increased credit score given on completing online course. Previously UGC declared 20 % of academic credits for online courses offered by SWAYAM portal or online elective. Because of the pandemic situation , UGC decided to increase the credit percentage for online course to 40 %.

Mr. Bhushan Patwardhan , vice chairman ,UGC said ,- Many online courses are now  online available with SWAYAM portal and also many universities created their own portal for online learning. Students should utilize the courses and complete their degree academic needs. for the same , students will be earn upto 40 % of credit on their completion of course.
