ATKR/ Backlog of 1st , 2nd & 3rd year exams 2020 to be conducted by November 30 -MU

Mumbai University has told colleges to conduct backlog exams for first and second year students from the 2019-20 academic session by November 30. The decision for these students was kept on hold since June. While they were promoted to their next class, colleges were told to conduct their backlog exams within 120 days after physical classes resume.

These exams will be now conducted online at college level in MCQ (multiple choice questions) format, like the final year exams. In June, a committee appointed by the state had recommended that backlog exams for students can be conducted soon after colleges reopen. But, with no clarity on when the state will allow colleges to reopen in the ongoing pandemic, the university wanted to complete these backlog exams within the 120-day period, so that students, colleges and the university can focus on the upcoming regular semester-end examinations.

An official said, "Our first priority in the last few months was to complete the exams for the graduating batch. Since we have completed the exams and announced many important results, we now plan to finish these backlog exams soon. These exams are anyway conducted at the college level. After this, we have to focus on semester-end exam for this year post-Diwali."
