Some Important Things You Must Know While Appearing for Interview

This academic year is about to end. Once government clears the examination confusion, students of final and pre final year will be appearing for job interview. Some of you may want to do job in private companies while some of you may want job in government sector and organizations. But in any stream interview is the most vital step in selection process of any organization. Some of the organization carries 2-3 rounds of interview to choose the best. So it is important to know some of the basic things that must be followed during interview.

I am going to share some such things here

1. Attire- it’s always said that the first impression is last impression. When you will appear for an interview you will not directly try to speak with them. First day will look at your attire. So it is necessary to look good in front of them. You should not wear very fancy type of attire you should be formally dressed. Try to wear light color clothes, have simple hairstyle. Wear ironed clothes. Wear tie, shoes must be formal. Use mild perfume.

2. Practice- Never appear to an interview without practice. Do practice of technical things of the field you are applying for. Collect information about the organizations, if not sure about exact figures, use approximate figures ask for clarification in not understood anything. But do not reply without understanding the question. You can refer various YouTube videos for frequently asked questions of that particular role.

3. Confidence and Optimism- Whenever a person appears for an interview he/she may get nervous; but every time you should not lose your confidence. Feel confident while giving answers, even if you don’t know the answer confidently admit it. Because confidence is one of the factor which is checked by interviewers along with knowledge and skills. And one more thing I must say, don’t be overconfident it does not create a good impression. Be optimistic don’t lose hope interviewers will try to check optimism in you.

4. Etiquettes- This thing also comes under first impression. Your knowledge and skills will be checked later first they will check how you treat others. So don’t forget your etiquettes, greet the interviewers properly, don’t sit until they tell, if you have any doubts you can ask. Take permission while entering the room, and say thank you while leaving. you can say “thanks for your time”

5. Resume- Sometimes your resume reaches to the interviewer before you reach. And your resume is you on paper, so it is very essential to have a proper resume. There are many sample resumes are available on internet of almost every field. But remember they are just for reference many people take them and just edit their names and personal details, its completely wrong. Never copy the resume, you may don’t have any achievements and recommendations and trainings as a fresher. It’s completely okay but interviewers immediately detect the copied resumes. You can refer various YouTube videos for creating your resume. Be particular in resume about which post you are applying for. 

6.  Some FAQ’s- There are some FAQ’s which are asked almost every time in interview, I am sharing some of them-

   • Self introduction- Almost every interviewer asks this question like “introduce yourself” or “tell me something about yourself”. So here you should start with your name, but never start with “Myself” it is grammatically wrong you can say “My name is” or “I am”. Then you can tell about your birthplace and place where you did you school/college. Then tell about your latest education. If you are not fresher you can tell your working experience, and lastly tell about your hobby or hobbies.    

   • Achievements- Many of the interviewers ask for your achievements in life. Here you can tell achievement in your school/college life. If you have work experience you can share that achievement like “employ of the month/year”. You can share your achievements in internships you have done any.

   • Strengths and Weaknesses- It is also an important question asked many times. Here you should be genuine don’t lie, tell real life experiences. While sharing your strength also tell how you implement it in your life. And while telling your weakness tell about how you are trying to overcome it. But never say I don’t have any weakness. 

   • Why should we hire you?- While answering this question you should tells how your skills match the requirement of that particular post.
